Oriental Medicine focuses on healing imbalances in the body, mind, and spirit. The practitioner seeks to understand the energetic relationships of the body. The goal is to treat the whole system, and not only the symptom.
HOW DOES ACUPUNCTURE WORK?
Acupuncture regulates and controls the endocrine and immune systems, releasing hormones and immune competent factors. These reactions assist cells, tissues, and organs to rebuild homeostasis. It also acts on the central nervous system to release neurotransmitters, which affect emotion and pain responses. Dramatic changes in health and energy level and substantial pain reduction can be achieved through the stimulation of specific acupuncture points.
Acupuncture promotes the movement of Qi (pronounced chee) in the body. Qi is the revitalizing energy that circulates along channels, to all organs of the body enabling them to function. Qi is what animates you; it gives you vitality and shows itself as a sparkle in your eyes. When the Qi in the body is abundant and flowing freely, the body and mind are healthy. When your Qi becomes obstructed or deficient, the body becomes distressed and symptoms of sickness begin to appear.
